21st Century Cures Act: Information Blocking
We have updated our software in order to comply with the new Cures Act on Information Blocking. The programs that have been updated are SamNotes, Filing Cabinet and the Notification Center.
SamNotes
- When a note is signed, there is a check box under the Sign Note button that is defaulted to be checked to upload to the portal
- If the provider unchecks the box and does not upload to the portal there will be a message box for the provider to enter in a reason as to why they did not upload that note to the patient’s portal.
Test Results
- On the main SamNotes screen there is a section for test results. When that is accessed, the test results importer will open. The provider will double click on a patient and then they can sign off and import with the Upload to Portal being checked off by default.
- If the provider unchecks the box to upload to portal, they will have a message box to enter a reason as to why this was not uploaded.
Notification Center
- When a task is created for a provider to sign their note, when they click view note, above the sign note button there is a check box that is also defaulted to be checked to Upload to Portal.
- If the provider unchecks the box to upload to portal, they will have a message box to enter a reason as to why this was not uploaded.
Filing Cabinet
- When a staff member scans in lab results they will need to select diagnostic image or diagnostic report for the information to be available for the provider to sign off and upload via the test results section in SamNotes.
- If a provider were the user scanning into the filing cabinet and the item was marked appropriately the Test Result Importer program would automatically open to match the results and then upload to the portal.
