Security Changes: SammyEHR Password Requirements

November 18th, 2019

As we are all aware the world of security is changing, therefore we are changing the Sammy Login Password program to assist in creating stronger HIPAA compliant passwords as well as setting passwords to expire every 90 days. (The 90 day countdown will begin for each practice on the day they download the update).

New Password Criteria

The login program is being changed to enforce a stronger password policy with NEW password criteria as described below:

When logging in to Sammy:

  • If a password is in use and it does not meet the new password criteria as described above, it will expire the password and prompt the user to change the password.  Yow will get the popup message shown below.  When changing a password, the application will require the user to meet the password criteria.  The user will be prompted to correct the password if it doesn't meet the criteria.  If the password is not updated, the user will be logged out of SammyEHR.
  • If the password is expired, the user is prompted to change the password. If the password is not updated, the user will be logged out of SammyEHR.
  • Sammy will now warn users that the password is expiring.  The warning message will pop up starting 5 days prior and each day after until the expiration day.  You will be prompted to change the password at any time during this time.  If the No button is clicked the password is not updated and the user will continue to logon to SammyEHR.
  • The change password screen has been update to display the new password criteria.
