Updated SamNotes Ribbon Bar

December 6th, 2017

We have made changes to the SamNotes Ribbon Bar.  When you first enter SamNotes, you will notice a few new things.  The most visible change is that we added percentages for each measure instead of showing the numerator and denominator.  On the left hand side, there will be a date and time indicating the last time the calculation was run.

The first image below is of a single doctor practice with only one NPI/TIN combination.

The second image below is of a single doctor practice with different NPI/TIN/SSN combination.  On the left side you will notice a drop down.  The drop down lists each NPI/TIN/SNN combination that has any eligible patients.

The items in red either mean:

  • The denominator is less than 20
  • That measure has not been met at all for the reporting period

The right click functionality remains the same where you are able to right click on the measure and get a list of the patients who have either met, not met, or count as an exclusion on that particular measure.  Additionally, at the bottom of the screen it will show how many visits the measure has been met on (numerator), how many total visits (denominator), and what the percentage was.

On the far right side is a refresh button.  Normally the refresh function will run with the Morning Index, but if you wanted to manually update, you can do so by clicking the refresh button.  A pop-up window will appear that states:

When it is done refreshing, the date and time on the far left will update to let you know it has in fact, refreshed. As stated in the message, you can continue working while the program refreshes.  If another provider is running the refresh, when you hover over the button it will tell you what station is currently running it.

Potential Ribbon Bar Performance Rate Changes

You may also notice some of your percentages may look different than they did prior to running this update.  The reasoning behind this is because two of the measures required two patient visits to be eligible.  The two measures that were most likely to be impacted by this were:

  • Measure 110 (Influenza Immunization)
  • Measure 226 (Tobacco Use: Screening and Cessation Intervention)

Additionally, Measures 154 and 155 (Falls Risk Assessment measures) may look slightly different as well.  This is due to an error that CMS made on their measure documentation.  As a result we had to make some calculation changes to ensure accuracy.
