Reporting MIPS 2020 using Sammy

February 9th, 2021

Dear Trusted Sammy Client:

We are contacting you to tell you about some CMS QPP Resources we believe may be helpful as you prepare for reporting MIPS in 2020. As you are aware, MedXpress Registry has discontinued operations and we have identified an alternate registry, Registry Clearinghouse, to which you may transition your 2020 MIPS reporting. If you choose to submit through Registry Clearinghouse, your MIPS Quality Measures can be transmitted directly to Registry Clearinghouse for submission upon upload from Sammy. In addition, Registry Clearinghouse will provide you with the ability to select Improvement Activities (IA) on their website. You will receive an additional communication with information regarding signing up directly with Registry Clearinghouse. As in previous years, Promoting Interoperability (PI) may not be reported using Sammy.

Please be aware that there may be some MIPS exceptions available to you.  Please review the QPP Exceptions website (https://qpp.cms.gov/mips/exception-applications), to see if you may qualify for these exemptions:

  • Extreme and Uncontrollable Circumstances Exception - this application will allow you to apply to have MIPS performance categories reweighted due to the current COVID-19 public health emergency.
  • MIPS Promoting Interoperability Performance Category Hardship Exception - this application will allow you to apply to have Promoting Interoperability points reweighted to Quality.

Please note:  In order to receive an exception, you must apply through the QPP Exceptions website.  The application period for these MIPS exceptions is currently open and must be completed by December 31, 2020.
